Freshmen Studies classes competed in an Escape Room-style intro to the library this week. Students were tasked to solve a series of 4 clues, decipher the corresponding lock codes, and digitally escape the library. Our 1st place time was an impressive 19:45 minutes! Our second place team escaped in 20:02! Great job, Cavaliers! I was so happy to welcome you to Cav Library!
Cav Library is excited to announce the CAVS READ Summer Reading Challenge. Choice is important to teen readers, so our participants may select 3 books of their choice and complete 3 online book review forms (one for each book) by August 10, 2019. Participating students will celebrate together in the fall. In conjunction with our summer challenge, Cav Library will also offer returning students Summer Break Book Bags, enabling them to checkout up to 6 books over the summer break. Students must have the signed parent permission form to checkout books over break. More info to come!
Mrs. Natasha Smith’s and Mr. Chris Haliburton’s English III classes participated in an exploration of the 1920s as an extension to their reading of Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. Students investigated prohibition in the U.S., viewed Art Deco architecture, listened to a Louis Armstrong’s Playlist, analyzed significant events of the decade, and danced the Charleston!
Freshmen Studies-classes explored Cav Library, discovering clues and entering digital kick codes to “escape the library” this week. Our record breakout: 24 minutes! The average escape time was 45 minutes. What a fun and engaging way to welcome our newest Cavaliers to the library!

A student’s (hello, Kate) eagerness to read one of these titles, spurred me to go ahead and release the VSBA books to you! Come and get ’em! “How do I participate?,” you ask. Read 3. Complete the online Google forms linked under VSBA above. Vote. Eat pizza! Done! You can do this!
Yes, the class CCHS schedule has changed, but we still want to see you! Stop by in the mornings, check out books, read and hang out from 7:30-7:55 a.m. You can also check out books between classes or on your way to lunch!
